"Act Heterosex" is an animated short film that uses a first-person HTML5 game as its narrative medium. The project tends to use an overwhelming visual language to build a horror narrative to portray the emotional and physical abuse that young Chinese queer people have toleranced from their homophobic parents. They have been forced to become a heterosexual and get married to keep the family line.

The film's tone is both oppressive and sorrowful. The design goal was to visualise and symbolise the violence and abuse from the family. Every visual element is carefully crafted to reveal the discrimination, rejection, and various forms of harm parents inflict on their queer children.

Through its tragic and ironic visual storytelling, the project makes a powerful statement about the marginalisation of sexual minorities within a binary gender system. It aims to raise public awareness of the critical mental, physical, and survival issues this community faces.
